A groundbreaking youth-led digital campaign aimed at tackling the root causes of gender-based violence kicked off in Vientiane on Tuesday. Backed by Plan International Laos, the initiative starts with a national podcast contest that exposes the link between early and forced marriage and unions and the heightened risks of violence faced by young women and girls. Country Director of Plan International Laos, Ms Carol Mortensen, said the campaign will culminate with a public awards event on November 4 in Vientiane, to celebrate the winning youth participants and maximise the social media reach of the anti-violence message across Laos as the 16 Days of Activism begins.
