Phu Bia Mining (PBM) has once again affirmed its reputation as one of Laos’ most responsible corporate citizens, receiving the ‘Best Taxpaying Business’ award for the fifth consecutive year.
The accolade was presented by the Ministry of Finance at the Handover Ceremony for Five Years of Financial Obligations successfully fulfilled by PBM (2020-2024), which took place at the National Convention Hall in Vientiane on October 31.
Senior Principal Advisor at Phu Bia Mining, Mr Chanpheng Bounnaphol, accepted the award on behalf of the company from a member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the ministry’s Party Committee, and Minister of Finance, Mr Santiphab Phomvihane.
The event also marked the 75th anniversary of the Financial Section Establishment (13/08/1950 to 13/08/2025).
To meet Laos’ stringent tax obligations, the Ministry of Finance grades companies, with ‘A’ being the highest possible to achieve.
Phu Bia Mining has received A’s for paying regular and on-time taxes, continuing to provide an annual review and sustainability report, passing Government audits with no outstanding debt balances, and having zero penalties for delaying tax obligations.
Commencing operations in 2008, the Company’s direct payments to the Lao government have surpassed US$1 billion, made up of royalties, salary, road, profit taxes, dividends and other concession and import services fees.
Mr Chanpheng said: “Being recognised as the best taxpaying business for five consecutive years is a testament to our enduring commitment to Laos. We take great pride in supporting the nation’s development and will continue to play our part in driving sustainable economic and social progress.”
