The Russian Center for Science and Culture organised a ceremony to donate equipment and school supplies for Russian language classes at six schools in Vientiane. The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Laos, Mr Vladimir Kalinin (fourth from left), the Deputy Director of the Research Institute for Educational Sciences, Mrs Manoly Dongvan, and school principals.

Five Japanese teaching assistants paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Education and Sports, Associate Prof. Dr Thongsalith Mangnomek, on November 16. The teaching assistants or “Nihongo Partners” sent by the Japan Foundation arrived in Laos on August 20. They are supporting Japanese language education at Vientiane Secondary School, Nongbone Secondary School, Piavat Secondary School, Phonthanh Secondary School and the six other schools in Vientiane, and providing cultural introductions and exchanges for nine months from September 2025 to May 2026. The Nihongo Partners programme began in 2016. Twenty-six long-term NPs and 12 short-term NPs have been dispatched to work at secondary schools and universities. This year, the MPs, Ms Fuyuko Ohshige, Mr Masato Kawahara, Ms Miyuki Sugiyama, Mr Zengo Matayoshi, and Ms Kanako Matuszato, are working at their respective schools.

A seminar on enforcement of intellectual property rights for judges and law enforcement officials was recently organised in Vientiane by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, with support from the World Intellectual Property Organisation. The seminar was aimed at enhancing knowledge and understanding, exchanging of experiences, and bolstering the conflict resolution skills of law enforcement agencies in Laos.

A representative of the Lao Toyota Service Co Ltd (right) on Tuesday donated 250 million kip to a representative of the Vientiane Football Federation (left) to support the football team competing in the football event of the 12th National Games being hosted by Vientiane during November 9-24. The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Vientiane, Dr Athsaphangthong Siphandone.
