Lao officials and representatives of the China Fund for Peace and Development discuss areas of cooperation.

China provides further US$1.3 million in funding support 

The China Fund for Peace and Development will provide another US$1.3 million in funding aid to Laos from 2023-2025, according to a report in the Paxason newspaper.
The additional funding from China was announced last week when representatives of the Fund met with the Vice President of the National Assembly, Mr Sommad Pholsena.
Mr Sommad welcomed the group and the two sides discussed various projects undertaken in the past and planned for the future.
The funding support is aimed at building friendship and cooperation in the form of a comprehensive, long-term strategic partnership based on set directions agreed to between the parties, states and peoples of Laos and China.
The two sides have been working together since 2012. Under this partnership, 12 primary and secondary schools have been built and education equipment provided. During the Covid-19 pandemic, medical supplies worth US$3.5 million were provided to support Laos’ response to the virus outbreak.
During their working visit to Laos from May 26-30, representatives of the China Fund for Peace and Development supported the construction of five schools in Savannakhet, Saravan and Xayaboury provinces, visited a primary school in Chanthaboury district, Vientiane, a school in Xaysettha district, and other schools.
