Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia partner to prevent illegal activities

The defence ministries of Lao, Vietnam and Cambodia will enhance cooperation to prevent illegal migration, transnational crimes, human and drug trafficking, smuggling, arms trade and other crimes.
These issues were discussed at a trilateral meeting in Vientiane last week between the ministers of national defence of Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. The meeting was attended

by Laos’ Deputy Prime Minister and National Defence Minister, General Chansamone Chanyalath, Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, General Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, and Vietnam’s Minister of National Defence, General Phan Van Giang.
The generals discussed plans to prevent illegal immigration, transnational crimes, human and drug trafficking, smuggling, arms trade and other crimes in order to jointly tackle such problems in a timely manner and to strengthen the deep-rooted unity between the three countries.
The three sides also discussed exchanges in sports and arts between their armies and joint performances, especially during important national events. The armies of three countries can take turns to host such events. They can also participate in various activities that can be organised regularly in provinces located in border regions.
Speaking at the meeting, General Chansamone Chanyalath said Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia are countries that border each other. “They are three countries that have fallen into the same fate. They have always been united and helped each other since childhood, like brothers,” he said.
“Therefore, regardless of the conditions and period, we will not be able to separate from each other,” he added.
For these reasons, the armies of the three countries are a source of strength that can protect, multiply and create friendship and unity among the three nations, he further said.
The armies of Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia have been strengthened and will flourish and develop continuously for the benefit of the three nations and the well-being of the people of each country. “We must together build the border line of our three nations to become a border line of peace, friendship and sustainable development cooperation, based on the spirit of unity and love of the three nations,” he said.
