Bokeo authorities seize 3 million amphetamine pills

The authorities in Tonpheung district, Bokeo province, have accidentally found over 3 million amphetamine pills inside a pickup truck which was parked by the roadside.

Packages of drugs that were seized by Bokeo province police on Saturday.

Local police in Tonpheung said on October 15, between 5 pm and 6pm, the police officers of Simeuangngam village were patrolling their beat. They noticed a white Vigo pickup truck with no license plate and a black cloth covering its rear end parked on a roadside near Simeuangngam village.
While inspecting the truck they discovered 350 packs containing 3,500,000 pills and weighing 385 kg. They also found 66 packets of Ketamine, weighing 66 kg.
Currently, the provincial police of suppression and anti-narcotics department is searching for the owner of the truck.
In beginning of this month, Bokeo police netted a record haul of 33,500,000 amphetamine pills and 500 kg of crystal meth in a pick-up truck and from the homes of two local residents.
Three people were later arrested on charges of drug dealing and trafficking.
This is another major drug bust of the year in the wake of police stepping up efforts to crack down on drug traffickers in accordance with the National Agenda on Solution for the Drug Problem.
Bokeo is located within the Golden Triangle region and is a transit point for illegal trafficking of narcotics. Provincial police are working with their counterparts in China, Thailand and Myanmar and other provinces of Laos to stamp out drug trade in the Golden Triangle area.
The government is deploying more resources to suppress drug abuse and trade and provincial police are beefing up efforts to clamp down on traffickers.
