Beyond Mountains and Rivers—Home

A river has nourished the ancient civilisation and witnessed the long-standing friendship between China and Laos.

A section of railway connects the mountains and the sea. There is a love that breaks through the borders, and there is also a beauty that transcends mountains and rivers.

December 3, 2022 is the first anniversary of the opening of the China-Laos Railway. From December 1st, China News Network and China News Service Yunnan Branch jointly

launched a short film series "Beyond Mountains and Rivers" co-produced by China and Laos. The series consists of 10 episodes (5 episodes in China and 5 episodes in Laos), divided into "Weaving", "Taste", "Road", "Root", "Dream", "Love", "Aid", "Home", "Music" and "Similarity" , telling about a Laotian female mechanic, a Laotian daughter-in-law in Yunnan, and medical staff on the China-Laos border , Lao Chinese and other groups, showing the changes and longings that the China-Laos Railway, a road of friendship and happiness, has brought to the lives of the two peoples.

Today, we released the first episode of the short film "Home", which tells the story of Susada, a Laotian girl living in Yunnan. Susada lives with her parents-in-law and two daughters in Kunming. Her Chinese husband is still working in Laos. After the train passed, what Susada hoped most was to travel to Laos with her parents-in-law and get to know her hometown. Because "Over there is a home, and this side is also a home." -- Produced jointly by China News Network and China News Service Yunnan Branch
