Malaysia donates 283,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine
Some 283,400 doses of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine donated by the Malaysian government arrived at Wattay International Airport on Wednesday night and will be used to bolster Laos’ battle against the virus outbreak.
The donation is part of Malaysia’s contribution to ongoing global efforts to end the pandemic, and support for Laos’ goal to vaccinate at least 50 percent of the adult population by the end of this year.

The government is sourcing assistance from various sectors and friendly countries to supplement its own resources, while health authorities are expediting the vaccination programme in a bid to bring the Covid outbreak under control.
The latest batch of donated vaccine will be administered to people of all age groups and with underlying health conditions, under the National Deployment and Vaccination Plan.
A new round of vaccinations will begin next month, taking in Vientiane and some of the larger provinces.
As of December 8, a total of 4,173 779 people, equal to 56.88 percent of the population, had received the first dose of a vaccine, while 3,265,359 people had been given two doses, equal to 44.5 percent of the population.
