Mining Company. After some gruelling years of exploration, soil sampling and drilling, UXO clearance, local community development and training, and of course material testing, the company is quickly becoming a fully operational and internationally recognised Lao gold producer.”
The Xepon Mining Company was formed to undertake mineral exploration in Xepon district, Savannakhet province.
The company’s express vision was to develop an internationally recognised gold mining operation that would not only benefit Laos economically through royalty and tax contributions, but would also be able to leverage its depth of experience to assist with the development of Lao infrastructure and agriculture, skills training, employment, social programmes, UXO clearance, and industrial development, all in compliance with international norms while maintaining Lao culture and balancing the needs of the Lao people with international standards.
“We are truly honoured that the Lao government and people accept us as a Lao company. Over the years we have formed an exceptional team that will prosper together as we move forward in this exciting venture,” Mr Moore said.
“Even though the Covid-19 pandemic has brought many challenges we have been forced to overcome, we have been able to maintain our operations and our staff and continue to develop without incident or infection.”
“We have also been able to provide food to the town of Xepon in difficult times when logistics constraints created shortages,” he added.
“Projects of this nature are quite difficult to develop anywhere in the world and the pandemic has certainly created a whole new set of challenges we have been forced to overcome.”
“However, it has also created opportunity for us to develop local industries that in the past have been sought from neighbouring countries to support operations.”
“We are truly Lao-centered at this point and intend to continue in this manner as the pandemic subsides. We have certainly learned from the mistakes of others that respectful relationships and maintaining the highest of ethical standards lead us on the path to prosperity for all.”
“The Xepon Mining Company is continuing to implement its projects throughout Laos and with the excellent support of the Lao government and access to capital markets and some world-class engineering support, thanks to the economic advisors at the US Embassy in Vientiane, we fully expect great success as everything is developed,” Mr Moore said.
