Laos receives courtesy visit from Chinese special envoy

Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith, on Tuesday received a courtesy visit from a special envoy of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Comrade Xi Jinping.
Member of the Party Central Committee and Head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Comrade Liu Haixing, as a special envoy of Comrade Xi Jinping, together with his delegation, visited Laos to congratulate the Party on the success of the 12th National Congress.
Comrade Thongloun said he highly appreciated the visit and expressed sincere gratitude through Comrade Liu Haixing to the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Comrade Xi Jinping, for sending a special envoy to Laos for this purpose.
This demonstrates the importance and attention that the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people attach to the Party and people of all ethnic groups in Laos, as well as to the traditional friendly relations and the long-term comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation based on the “four goods” - good neighbours, good friends, good comrades and good partners.
He noted that these are the fundamental factors in building a Laos-China community with a shared future.
At the same time, Comrade Thongloun expressed his gratitude to Comrade Liu Haixing and said he highly appreciated the congratulatory message from General Secretary Comrade Xi Jinping on the success of the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
Comrade Thongloun outlined the achievements of the Congress and thanked the CPC for its continuous support and assistance to the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, especially during preparations for the Congress.
Secretary General Comrade Thongloun said he was happy to continue to work with General Secretary Comrade Xi Jinping to strengthen political and strategic guidance for enhanced cooperation between the parties and states of Laos and China.
He also expressed a wish to enhance the traditional friendship, deepen comprehensive cooperation, promote the cause of socialist construction, and jointly promote the establishment of a Laos-China partnership with a shared future, saying this will actively contribute to the maintenance of peace, stability, and cooperation for the development of the region and the world.
Comrade Thongloun also said he highly valued both the External Relations Committee of the LPRP Central Committee and the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, who represented the two parties in signing a cooperation plan between the LPRP and the CPC for the period 2026-2030 during the visit to Laos.
He praised the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for its active contribution to the implementation of the consensus reached between the top leaders of the two parties and states in enhancing the traditional friendly relations and elevating the quality and level of the Laos-China partnership with a shared future.
Comrade Liu Haixing presented the original congratulatory letter from the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Comrade Xi Jinping, to Comrade Thongloun, expressing his congratulations on the success of the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith’s election as Secretary General of the Party’s new Central Committee.
This is a viewed as a demonstration of the trust of the Party Central Committee and Congress delegates, affirming that China will continue to coordinate with the relevant Lao entities in fulfilling agreements made between the top leaders of the two parties and states, to further enhance the friendly relations between the two countries.
