Stakeholder Dialogue meeting.

Driving sustainable coffee and tea development through stakeholder dialogue

Side by side with its Annual Technical Committee Meeting held in the morning on February 10 in Vientiane, the Green CUP project organised a Stakeholder Dialogue session in the afternoon.
Over 80 participants from government institutions, development partners, NGOs, and others organisations actively involved in coffee and tea sector development exchange experiences and reinforce collaboration in support of sustainable coffee and tea value chains in Laos.
During the Stakeholder Dialogue, AFD presented key orientations for additional funding to the Green CUP project. Partner organisations - including ADB, FAO, LuxDev, Lao Farmer Association, DGRV, ITC, and Helvetas – shared valuable perspectives on sector development and upcoming interventions across the coffee and tea sectors.
Discussions focused on some key priority areas for the development of two sectors such as SME financial mechanisms, human resource development, trade and export facilitation, and smallholder’s producers’ organisation . These exchanges are enabled align strategies, identify synergies, and strengthen coordination among national authorities, technical agencies, producer organisations, and development partners.
The dialogue featured contributions from several partner organisations which shared perspectives on cooperative development, market access, sector planning, and farmer support mechanisms.
The session concluded by underscoring the importance of sustained multi-stakeholder collaboration to address key challenges facing the coffee and tea sectors, including better policy alignment, improved access to finance for smallholders’ producers and SME, and the need to build skilled workers across the value chains.
The Green CUP Project will continue to support this open and inclusive platform for dialogue, recognising that stakeholder engagement helps ensure development efforts reflect local realities, bring together diverse perspectives, and support shared solutions for sustainable coffee and tea development.
