Public Bank Lao Ltd. opens new head office building in Vientiane
The Public Bank Lao Limited (PBLL) on Monday (February 23) marked a significant milestone with the official opening of its new Head Office in Vientiane, reaffirming the Bank’s long-term commitment to supporting the Lao PDR’s financial sector and economic development.
The ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Governor of the Bank of the Lao PDR, Mr Soulysak Thamnuvong, and attended by the Ambassador of Malaysia to Laos, Edi Irwan Mahmud, President of the Malaysian Business Chamber Laos, Mr Tee Chee Seng, senior Bank of Laos officials, corporate partners, customers, and the Bank’s management and staff.
Mr Soulysak commended Public Bank Lao Limited on this important achievement, noting that the new Head Office represents more than physical expansion.

“The establishment of this new Head Office reflects the Bank’s strong commitment, confidence, and long-term contribution to the financial and economic development of the Laos,” he said.
“Since commencing operations in Laos in 1995 and subsequently transforming into a locally incorporated commercial bank, Public Bank Lao Limited has played a meaningful role in strengthening the banking sector and supporting socio-economic progress.”
Mr Edi Irwan Mahmud congratulated Public Bank Lao Limited on the successful opening of its new Head Office and highlighted the strong and enduring bilateral relations between Malaysia and Laos.
He noted that the Public Bank’s presence in Laos since 1995 reflects Malaysia’s confidence in the country’s economic potential and its continued commitment to supporting Laos’ nation-building efforts.

“The Bank’s continued growth and investment demonstrate the deep mutual trust and economic cooperation shared between our two nations,” he said.
Chief Executive Officer of Public Bank Lao Limited, Mr Tee Keng Swee, reflected on the Bank’s proud 30-year presence in Laos and its transformation from a foreign bank branch into a locally incorporated commercial bank on January 1, 2024.
“This milestone represents not only the Bank’s growth, but also our enduring commitment to Laos,” he said. “Public Bank Lao Limited remains dedicated to supporting individuals, businesses, and communities through prudent banking practices, innovative financial solutions, and responsible growth.”
Mr Tee highlighted the Bank’s ongoing initiatives to enhance customer service and accessibility, including the expansion of digital banking services, internationally accepted Visa cards, and the upcoming launch of its mobile banking platform.
Established in 1995, Public Bank Lao Limited has grown steadily into a trusted financial institution, providing comprehensive banking services to individuals, businesses, and corporations.

The opening of its new Head Office marks a new chapter in the Bank’s journey, positioning it to better serve customers and support the Lao PDR’s long-term economic aspirations and continue as the Bank For The People.
The opening ceremony concluded with an official ribbon-cutting accompanied by a Lion dance to bestow good fortune on the new building.
This was followed by group photo session and a guided tour of the new premises, marking a new era of growth and continued partnership between Public Bank Lao Limited and the Lao PDR.
