Sacombank Lao supports Lao students in Vietnam with scholarships and internships

In a move to support the educational and professional development of Lao students, Sacombank Lao, a leading commercial bank in Laos, recently handed over 20 scholarships to Lao students taking university courses in Vietnam’s Ha Tĩnh province. The scholarships were presented on June 3 at Ha Tĩnh University, marking the bank’s contribution to the Lao government’s efforts to develop human resources to drive socio-economic development.
Additionally, the bank, also known as  Saigon Thuong Tin Bank Lao Co., Ltd., welcomed five Lao interns for on-the-job training at their facilities.
The internship programme is designed to provide practical experience and exposure to the banking industry, equipping the interns with valuable skills and knowledge that will aid their future careers. The interns will benefit from training programmes covering various aspects of banking operations, customer service, and professional development, which will bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application.
Speaking at the scholarship presentation ceremony, Sacombank Lao’s General Director, Phan Thanh Tuan, expressed the hope that the scholarships would encourage the deserving students to work harder at their studies, enabling them make the most of their talents and potential and also make meaningful contributions to society as a whole.
“We strongly hope that the scholarships will inspire students to pursue their education and develop themselves further in the future,” said the director, who is also a member of the bank’s board of directors.
Sacombank Lao’s initiative underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in driving educational and economic progress in Laos.
By collaborating with educational institutions and supporting the aspirations of Lao students, the bank is setting an example for other organisations to follow suit to build a brighter future for Lao society.
