PM to visit Russia to strengthen bilateral ties

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone will lead a high-ranking Lao delegation on an official visit to Russia during June 14-17 to strengthen bilateral ties, before attending a summit marking 35 years of ASEAN-Russia relations.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 12, Mr Sonexay will visit the Russian Federation at the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Mr Mikhail Mishustin. His visit to Moscow is expected to strengthen relations between Laos and Russia.
Following the visit to Moscow, Mr Sonexay will lead the Lao delegation to attend the 35th Anniversary ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit in Kazan, Russia, during June 17-19.
The summit will mark 35 years of dialogue relations between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and Russia, bringing together leaders from ASEAN member states and Russia to observe the milestone.
The trip reflects Laos’ continued engagement in regional and international cooperation and provides an opportunity for the country to take part in discussions at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
