St Hugh’s College Vientiane celebrates student success, expands international university pathways

St Hugh’s College Vientiane (SHV) celebrated the academic achievements of its students and highlighted growing opportunities for international higher education during its Completion & Progression Celebration 2026 held in Vientiane last week.
The annual event brought together students, parents, teachers and invited guests to recognise those who have successfully completed internationally recognised pathway programmes and are preparing to continue their studies at universities overseas.

A key milestone celebrated this year was the completion of the NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY) programme by eight students, who are now progressing towards undergraduate studies abroad.
Students from the cohort have secured confirmed and conditional offers from universities in New Zealand and France, reflecting increasing access to international higher education opportunities for Lao students.
Among the notable achievements was one student receiving a conditional university offer accompanied by a scholarship worth NZD15,000 from a university in New Zealand in recognition of outstanding academic performance and future potential.

The ceremony also recognised students enrolled in other international pathway programmes offered by SHV, which provide multiple routes to higher education based on students’ academic goals, preferred study destinations and career aspirations.
Through its various programmes, SHV offers pathways to universities in nine countries: the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, France, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand.
Current pathway options include the NCUK International Foundation Year, which enables students to complete one year of foundation studies in Vientiane before progressing to undergraduate degree programmes at NCUK partner universities abroad.
Additional pathways include collaborations with the British University Vietnam, Assumption University in Thailand, and the University of Nottingham Malaysia, allowing students to begin their studies in Laos before transferring overseas to complete their degrees.
During the celebration, awards were presented to students for excellence in academic achievement, leadership, perseverance, personal development and community service.
Speaking at the event, a representative of St Hugh’s College Vientiane stressed the importance of providing students in Laos with access to internationally recognised education programmes and diverse pathways to universities around the world.
Supported by the educational leadership and experience of the Panyathip British International School (PBIS), which has more than 25 years of experience in Laos, St Hugh’s College Vientiane said it remains committed to preparing students for success in international higher education and future careers in a globalised world.
The college is currently accepting applications for its September 2026 intake and continues to provide consultation services for students and families interested in pursuing higher education overseas.
