Multi-country journeys and rail links: a new era for GMS tourism
An inaugural GMS Tourism Private Sector workshop held on Wednesday in Luang Prabang, as a part of the Mekong Tourism Forum, heralded a significant shift in the Greater Mekong Subregion's (GMS) tourism strategy, placing a strong emphasis on multi-country tourism products and the transformative potential of the ASEAN Rail Tourism Corridor.
The workshop brought together key players from all six GMS countries, aiming to forge unprecedented collaboration and innovation within the region's tourism industry.
Co-hosted by the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office and the Lao Tourism Association, the event convened tourism-related bodies from each GMS country at the Pullman Luang Prabang.
The main event was a brainstorming session dedicated to strengthening multi-country tourism in the Greater Mekong Subregion. Discussions centred on the challenges and opportunities in developing and marketing cross-border tour programmes.
