Party leaders hear five-year state inspection report, chart path for next five years

Senior Party and State leaders gathered at the 5th National Conference on Inspection Work in Vientiane on Wednesday to review the past five-year inspection results and define priorities to 2030.
The main goals over the next five years will be to strengthen oversight and intensify the fight against corruption, bureaucracy, and wastefulness.
According to an online Vientiane Mai report, the two-day national conference taking place on July 1-2 is presided over by Politburo member and Standing Member of the Party Central Committee Secretariat, General Vilay Lakhamfong.
Attendees include senior Party and State leaders, including members of the Politburo and Secretariat, full and alternate Party Central Committee members, deputy ministers, and chairpersons of Vientiane and provincial administration committees.
The chairpersons and vice chairpersons of Party inspection commissions from ministries, other government agencies, and localities, as well as retired senior officials and officials and civil servants from the Party Central Inspection Commission and the State Inspection Authority, are also attending the conference.
In his opening remarks, General Vilay Lakhamfong said the conference would review and evaluate the implementation of inspection work over the past five years, identifying achievements, shortcomings, and remaining challenges, while drawing practical lessons to guide future work.
Discussions would also define key objectives and directions for 2026–2030, in line with the Resolution adopted by the 12th Party Congress, aimed at strengthening the effectiveness of Party and State inspection systems and anti-corruption efforts at all levels.
The conference also heard a presentation by Politburo member and Standing Member of the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Party Central Inspection Commission and President of the State Inspection Authority, Vanxay Phongsavanh, who outlined the draft summary report evaluating inspection work from 2021-2025 and proposed directions for the 2026-2030 development plan.
Subsequently, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairperson of the Party Central Inspection Commission and Vice President of the State Inspection Authority, Pingkham Lasasimma, presented a draft report on the inspection development plan for 2021-2025 and outlined strategic directions for the 2026-2030 period.
Delegates then contributed views on lessons learned in leadership and monitoring and inspection work across various sectors.
This was followed by a presentation by member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Party Central Inspection Commission and Vice President of the State Inspection Authority, Khamlay Sipaseuth, who introduced a draft resolution on strengthening the prevention, suppression, and resolution of bureaucracy, corruption, negative behaviour, and wastefulness within Party, State and social organisations.
The conference continued with further discussion and feedback on the three draft documents, aimed at refining their content and ensuring more effective implementation in the coming years.
