Indonesian Embassy kicks off 81st Independence Day commemoration with blood donation campaign to support Lao community

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Vientiane kicked off a series of activities to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia by organising a blood donation campaign.
The blood donation drive, held at the Embassy’s premises on July 31, reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to humanitarian values, solidarity, and friendship with the people of Laos.
The activity was organised in collaboration with the Lao Red Cross and officially opened by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy, Mr Achmad Dahlan.
The campaign brought together Embassy personnel, members of the Indonesian community, and friends of Indonesia in Laos to contribute to a life-saving humanitarian cause.

Blood donation is a crucial form of support for patients, accident victims and others in need of blood transfusions.
Through this initiative, the Indonesian Embassy aims to contribute to maintaining blood availability in Laos and demonstrate the spirit of gotong royong (working together) as a shared value between Indonesia and Laos.
The Deputy Director of the Blood Institute of the Lao Red Cross, Ms Chilapa, welcomed the Embassy’s initiative as a meaningful expression of solidarity with the Lao people. She emphasised that blood donation remains an urgent and continuous need in Laos, as blood supplies depend on daily contributions from donors through the Lao Red Cross.
Ms Chilapa encouraged other diplomatic missions and international organisations in Laos to undertake similar initiatives to support communities in need.
The Embassy of Indonesia extended its appreciation to the Lao Red Cross, donors, volunteers and all participants who contributed to the success of this humanitarian activity. Through this campaign, Indonesia hopes to inspire greater cooperation and solidarity from the international community in supporting the well-being of the Lao people.
