Phu Bia Mining hosts a biannual meeting with Lao government
Phu Bia Mining (PBM) held the first of two biannual meetings with the Lao government at Avani Plus Lanexang Hotel in Vientiane on August 14. The meetings’ aims are to continue the successful two-way dialogue and relationship between PBM and the government of Laos on matters of common interest.
The meeting hosted 80 government officials from central and local departments, including those from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministries of Industry and Commerce, Finance, Agriculture and Environment and National Defence, the Investment Promotion and Management Committee, the Commission for Information and Education of the Central Committee, and Xaysomboun and Xiengkhouang Provinces.
The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mr Chansaveng Boungnong, the Vice President of the Xaysomboun Provincial Administration Committee, Mr Thongpaseuth Xaiyalath, and the Vice President of the Xiengkhouang Provincial Administration Committee, Mr HongkhamPhimmasan.

Senior Management representing the Company were led by Phu Bia Mining’s Managing Director, Mr David Reid, the Deputy General Manager, Mr Zhen Luo, the Senior Manager External Affairs, Ms Manilath Arounlangsy, and the Government Relations Manager, Ms Vannaly Phounsavath.
Over the course of the half-day meeting, the Company launched its 2026 20-minute corporate video, with participants showcasing PBM’s world-class and award-winning mining operations in Laos.
Participants were informed of PBM’s financial and economic contributions to Xaysomboun province and the government, as well as the Company’s community development and livelihoods projects that meet international evaluation benchmarks.
The PBM representatives also presented strong operational excellence, environmental and safety performance, and growth projects, and future planned mines in Laos.
Participants also discussed several matters requiring resolution to help the Company achieve its growth and development targets, benefiting the Government and the people of Laos.
Phu Bia Mining’s Managing Director, Mr David Reid, reiterated the strong partnership and emphasised PanAust shareholders’ long-term goals to continue their mining operations in Laos.
Mr Reid said: “On behalf of PanAust shareholder, Guangdong Rising Holding Group (GDRH) stands ready to support Phu Bia Mining’s growth projects in Laos and partner with all levels of government officials.
“PanAust and Phu Bia Mining reaffirmed GDRH’s goals at this meeting, that we will continue to foster social and economic development and prosperity of Laos
“The meeting concluded with a continuous pathway for PBM and all levels of Government to extend the strong partnership for future opportunities in the years ahead,” said Mr Reid.
