Nam Theun 2 marks 3,500 days without lost-time injury

Nam Theun 2 Power Company Limited has achieved 3,500 consecutive days without a lost-time injury (LTI), marking nearly a decade of safe operations across its hydropower facilities and workplaces.
The milestone was reached on August 27 and reflects the company’s sustained focus on workplace safety, risk awareness and adherence to safety procedures, as well as the collective efforts of its employees, contractors and partners.
The achievement was built on a strong safety culture in which workers are encouraged to remain vigilant, identify potential risks and take shared responsibility for protecting themselves and their colleagues.
The company’s safe work practices have been maintained across its power generation facilities, dam infrastructure, transmission systems, offices and field operations.

“This achievement is not the result of luck,” said the Chief Executive Officer of Nam Theun 2, Mr Marc-Antoine Rupp.
“It reflects thousands of daily decisions made by our employees and contractors to identify risks, follow procedures, speak up about unsafe conditions, and prioritise safety in every aspect of their work.”
Despite reaching the significant milestone, the company stressed that workplace safety remains an ongoing process rather than a destination.
Nam Theun 2 continues to reinforce its Life Saving Rules, encourage employees to report and learn from near-miss incidents, and promote a workplace culture in which unsafe behaviour and shortcuts are never accepted.
These measures are particularly important as its operations continue during challenging wet season conditions, when additional attention to workplace risks is required.
