It is a time to share heart with flood victims
People in northern provinces of Laos have suffered greatly as a result of flooding triggered by Storm Yagi’s heavy rains and strong winds.
Many people whose homes are under water are unable to return home and have sought temporary shelter and assistance from society.
Luang Namtha is one of the several northern provinces of Laos, which has been affected badly by Storm Yagi. The storm hit the north on Monday after passing over Vietnam. Many villages in the provincial center of Luang Namtha have been inundated, and provincial authorities are assisting in the evacuation of residents to safer locations.

The storm hit hard in Luang Namtha province on September 7, and since then, the army, public security, public and private organisations, and individuals have helped victims as much as they can, but the need for more assistance is great, according to a senior official in Luang Namtha province. Food, drinking water, clothing, and medicine are all desperately needed to assist in the rescue effort.
The government, in collaboration with other organisations, is mobilising people from across socioeconomic strata, businesses, organisations, and individuals to aid flooded areas throughout the country.

Many sectors of society, including banks, schools, hospitals, telecommunication and media organisations, are working hard to generate funds to help those affected by the disaster. Recently, the Dok Ngiew Kham Group Co., Ltd , which operates in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone, contributed 6,800,000,000 kip to flood relief efforts in Laos.
The Lao Development Bank donated 500,000,000 kip to support Luang Namtha province, the Ministry of National Defence contributed 100,000,000 kip, and other sectors are assisting Luang Namtha and northern provinces.
The Laos-China Railway Company Limited, as well as local logistics in Laos, are helping with the relief effort by offering to transport drinking water, food, medicine, clothing, and other items for free.
Several groups are preparing to offer supplies to those affected by flooding. People from all social backgrounds are donating to flood relief efforts across the country.
The powerful Storm Yagi is currently wreaking havoc in nearby countries such as Vietnam, China, and Myanmar. It is a time to contribute and share a heart with flood victims to make their situation to return normal. In difficult circumstances, everyone in the country will help and share the hardships with the flood victims.
