President to visit Democratic People’s Republic of Korea

Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and State President Thongloun Sisoulith will lead a high-level Party and Government delegation on a state visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on October 7-8, to strengthen ties between the two countries.
The visit is in response to an invitation from the General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and President of State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Mr Kim Jong Un, the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
The visit aims to further strengthen the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the parties, governments and peoples of Laos and the DPRK.
President Thongloun’s visit also marks the 60th anniversary of the first summit in Pyongyang between President Kaysone Phomvihane, the beloved and respected leader of the Lao people, and President Kim Il Sung, the great leader of the people of the DPRK.
It also marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party of Korea on October 10 and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Laos and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
