KOTRA boosts Korea-Laos agri-food ties through K-Food Ingredient Trade Mission

The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Vientiane has successfully concluded the K-Food Ingredient Trade Mission 2025, held in Vientiane from October 23-25 and marking another milestone in advancing Korea-Laos cooperation in the agri-food sector.
Held in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the reestablishment of Korea-Laos diplomatic relations, the mission featured both Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C) programmes.
The opening day featured business meetings connecting Korean suppliers with Lao distributors, followed by the K-Food Town Festival 2025, a major public event showcasing Korean food and culture.

Korean food ingredients amid the rapid expansion of the food, beverage, and franchise market in Laos and the growing interest in Korean cuisine, while also enabling direct engagement with local consumers.
A total of 8 Korean agri-food companies, namely GreenGoods Co., Ltd., Rock & Roll Food Co., Ltd., Mirmaro Food System Inc., Shinhwa Interglobal Co., Ltd., I Tag You Co., Ltd., Jung Ang Tafla Co., Ltd., Tium Global Inc., and PR Biz Co., Ltd. participated in the mission, promoting high-quality products such as sauces, beverages, organic eggs, ginseng drinks, tteokbokki and Korean beef. The programme opened on October 23 at the Crowne Plaza Vientiane with a corporate networking seminar and export consultation session.
Speakers from the Department of Domestic Trade of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the LK Group, and Lanxang Media Sole Co., Ltd. shared insights on Laos’ economic trends, logistics, and retail distribution.
This was followed by one-on-one B2B meetings connecting 8 Korean exporters with 22 Lao companies from the food and beverage, hospitality, and retail sectors, including SVL Trading, Kokkok Mart, Sokxay Mart, and Lao Derm Group. A total of 49 business consultations were held, paving the way for new trade opportunities.
A highlight of the mission was the signing of a Joint Venture Agreement between Korea’s Mirmaro Food System Inc. (IDO) and Laos’ SVL Trading Import-Export Sole Co., Ltd. to establish a sauce processing and franchise business in Laos by enhancing local production and technology exchange.
The event continued at the Parkson Department Store on October 24-25, where the K-Food Town Festival drew over 7,300 visitors. The festival featured 30 booths promoting Korean brands, franchises, and local restaurants, along with cooking shows, product demos, and K-culture performances.
The event was graced by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Laos, Mr Jung Yung Soo, and the Director General of KOTRA Vientiane, Mr Park Jungwe, along with representatives from Lao distributors of Korean food.
In his congratulatory remarks, Mr Jung Yung Soo said “Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between Laos and the Republic of Korea, the success of this event reflects the strong friendship and economic partnership between Korea and Laos. It is a meaningful step in enhancing bilateral trade and promoting Korean food culture in the Lao market.”
At the closing ceremony, Best Seller Awards were presented to top-performing companies for outstanding sales and engagement, with Hanwoo beef and tteokbokki emerging as the best-selling products. The event generated more than US$6,300 in sales revenue.
Mr Park Jungwe said “Laos’ food service industry has grown rapidly in recent years with the expansion of franchise restaurants, shopping malls, and modern retail outlets. The growing interest in Korean food culture presents an excellent opportunity for deeper cooperation between our two countries, particularly in the agri-food sector.”
The mission not only achieved tangible business results but also reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries to building a sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership in the agri-food industry.
Through a dynamic combination of business matching, consumer engagement, and joint ventures, the event successfully showcased the quality and diversity of Korean food products, laying a strong foundation for continued collaboration and long-term cooperation between Korea and Laos.
