Kasemrad International Hospital Vientiane becomes Laos’ first to get JCI accreditation

Kasemrad International Hospital Vientiane on Wednesday celebrated JCI accreditation – becoming the first hospital in Laos to achieve this international standard and the first overseas branch of Bangkok Chain Hospital to receive this accreditation. This marks a major milestone as BCH continues expanding, with five new hospitals soon to open in Thailand.
The hospital hosted a special ceremony to celebrate its achievement of the prestigious Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, becoming the first hospital in Laos to meet this globally recognised standard of healthcare quality and patient safety.

Chief Executive Officer of Bangkok Chain Hospital Public Company Limited (BCH), Prof. Dr Chalerm Harnphanich, congratulated the team on achieving JCI Accreditation.	At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Phayvanh Keopraseuth, delivered his congratulatory remarks on the hospital’s achievement of JCI accreditation.	At the ceremony, Director of Kasemrad International Hospital Vientiane, Dr Wattana Pareesri, delivered his speech.

The ceremony was held on Wednesday and presided over by Deputy Minister of Health Dr Phayvanh Keopraseuth. It was also attended by the CEO of Bangkok Chain Hospital Public Company Limited (BCH), Professor Emeritus Dr Chalerm Harnphanich; Chairwoman and Deputy CEO Dr Somporn Harnphanich; Director of Kasemrad International Hospital Vientiane Dr Wattana Pareesri; and Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy, Ms Jirusaya Birananda, in Vientiane.
A member of the National Assembly for Vientiane, Vice President of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and President of the Lao Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment Association, Ms Valy Vetsaphong, along with representatives from embassies, international organisations, government and private sector leaders from both Laos and Thailand, insurance partners, corporate clients, and distinguished guests, also took part in the ceremony.
Prof. Dr Chalerm congratulated the hospital team for their dedication in achieving JCI accreditation and highlighted the expansion of the Kasemrad Hospital Network in Thailand, with five new hospitals scheduled to open in the near future.
In his congratulatory message, Dr Phayvanh praised the hospital’s role in strengthening the national healthcare system and supporting the government’s efforts to elevate medical service standards to international levels. He emphasised the importance of advancing healthcare quality to meet global standards.

The Deputy Minister also commended Kasemrad International Hospital Vientiane for its role in strengthening the Lao healthcare system and for serving as a leading model of quality medical services in the country.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of the “Gold Seal of Approval®,” the prestigious symbol of JCI accreditation, recognising excellence across more than 1,200 quality and safety standards. It also symbolises world-class excellence in patient safety and healthcare quality under the JCI 8th Edition standards.
Director of Kasemrad International Hospital Vientiane, Dr Wattana Pareesri, stated, “Achieving JCI accreditation is a major milestone that reflects our commitment to patient safety, service quality, and international standards. We are proud to be the first hospital in Lao PDR to receive this global certification, and we will continue to advance healthcare services for the people of Laos.”
He added, “Achieving JCI accreditation is not only a major milestone for our hospital team but also a validation of our unwavering commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, and patient-centred medical services aligned with international standards. We will continue to drive quality improvement to help advance the healthcare system of Lao PDR sustainably.”
The event also featured staff recognition presentations, group photos with management teams, and celebratory activities to thank all departments involved in the hospital’s JCI journey.
