President Thongloun Sisoulith on Friday leads the opening of the exhibition documenting Laos’ 50 years of development and revolutionary movement.

Kaysone Phomvihane exhibition celebrates 50 years of progress

A photo exhibition celebrating the life, revolutionary mission, and development achievements of Laos under the leadership of beloved President Kaysone Phomvihane opened on Friday at the Kaysone Phomvihane Museum in Vientiane.
The event marks the 105th birth anniversary of the President and also coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
Party Secretary General and President Thongloun Sisoulith presided over the opening ceremony, which was also attended by Vice Presidents, Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and other senior Party and state officials.
The exhibition, titled “Successes in national protection, construction, and development linked to the life and revolutionary mission of President Kaysone Phomvihane,” features 334 photographs, documents, and artefacts.
Speaking at the event, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Propaganda and Training Committee and Chairman of the Party Central Committee Theory Council, Mr Khamphan Pheuyavong, said, “Over the past 50 years Laos has passed through a path of development that has been filled with great successes in each period under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, initially spearheaded by President Kaysone Phomvihane.”
“He was the architect of a new type of thought that influenced successive generations of leaders and guided the nation to so many successes in numerous spheres of development.”
​Mr Khamphan said the exhibition was designed to display impressive events that vividly reflect the evolution of Laos and achievements in protecting and developing the country, all influenced by the life and mission of the President.
​The exhibition is divided into two main sections. One is titled the Life and Revolutionary Mission of President Kaysone Phomvihane (1920-1992) and ​the other portrays successes in the fields of national protection, construction, and development, shaped by the life and revolutionary mission of President Kaysone Phomvihane (1975-2025).
​The assembled items offer a deep and inspiring insight into Laos’ progress since liberation from foreign domination in 1975 up to the present day.
