AI library provides new learning frontier for Lao youth

Lao students are being given new opportunities to step into the world of artificial intelligence with the opening of the “Phoxay AI Library” at Phoxay Secondary School in Naxaithong district.
The initiative, jointly led by KB KOLAO Leasing Company Limited and the Non-Bank Financial Institution Supervision Department of the Bank of the Lao PDR (BOL), reflects a shared commitment to strengthening education and nurturing future talent in line with the fast-changing digital landscape.
The newly established library is designed to provide students with improved access to digital learning tools and knowledge. Equipped with computers, high-speed Wi-Fi, a beam projector, and a wide range of educational materials—including AI-related books and language resources in English, Korean and Chinese—the facility aims to enhance both technological literacy and self-learning skills among students.
At the opening ceremony, organisers emphasised that the project goes beyond infrastructure development, focusing on inspiring young people to dream bigger and prepare for future careers in an AI-driven world. They also reaffirmed their commitment to continuing support for schools and communities to ensure sustainable use and expansion of such educational initiatives.
The project is also notable as a flagship corporate social responsibility initiative, highlighting strong collaboration between the public and private sectors.
With active support from Good Neighbors Laos, it is being recognised as a model partnership involving government authorities, a private company, and a non-governmental organisation working together to create long-term social impact.
The opening ceremony was attended by around 100 participants, including senior officials from the Bank of the Lao PDR, executives from KB KOLAO Leasing Company Limited, local authorities from Naxaithong district, representatives of Good Neighbors Laos, teachers and students.
Participants expressed confidence that the Phoxay AI Library will serve not only as a modern learning space, but also as a foundation for expanding educational opportunities, reducing the digital gap, and enhancing the future competitiveness of Lao youth.
The initiative is expected to play an important role in supporting Laos’ broader efforts to promote digital transformation and build a more inclusive, knowledge-based society.
