Lao delegation pays courtesy visit to Vietnam’s Party General Secretary

A Lao government delegation paid a courtesy visit to the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, To Lam, following the conclusion of a bilateral meeting in Vietnam.
Laos’ Minister of Public Security, Lieutenant General Vanthong Kongmany, conveyed greetings from Lao Party and State leaders to To Lam and other Vietnamese Party and State leaders.
The visiting delegation also reported on the success of a meeting between the Lao and Vietnamese Ministries of Public Security.
Lieutenant General Vanthong and his delegation, which included senior officials from various departments and specialised units, officially visited and engaged in friendly activities with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from March 19-21.
To Lam welcomed the delegation from the Lao Ministry of Public Security, thanking them for their visit and participation in the meeting.
He said the two ministries should strive to strengthen the longstanding relationship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
This would ensure that both countries enjoy political stability along with social peace and security, while creating conditions conducive to economic growth and progress on the path to prosperity.
The Lao delegation was also warmly welcomed by Vietnam’s Minister of Public Security, General Luong Tam Quang, and his delegation.
The leaders of both ministries participated in a bilateral meeting to review global and regional situations and developments in their respective countries.
The two sides expressed pride and deep appreciation for the history, traditions, friendly relations, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between their two nations and the security forces of Laos and Vietnam, which have continuously developed and deepened.
The Lao and Vietnamese delegations reviewed the implementation of the two ministries’ cooperation and assistance plan over the past five years, which was deemed to have achieved satisfactory results.
The two sides pledged to further their cooperation in all areas of relations, especially in terms of coordination and mutual support to ensure peace, social order, and security during important events taking place in the two countries in 2026.
The Lao Ministry of Public Security delegation also visited Vietnam’s Traffic Police Department to learn about traffic control systems and the prevention of road accidents.
They also paid a visit to the Hanoi Security Command to share experiences in maintaining law and order and resolving societal problems through the use of modern technology.
