“Taste of Australia” showcases growing Laos-Australia trade ties

Australian goods are taking centre stage at the “Taste of Australia 2026” event in Vientiane which kicked off last week, highlighting premium quality Australian products and strengthening Australia-Laos trade ties.
The Australian Embassy to Laos and Kokkok Mega Mart in Phonsinuan village are hosting the event, which opened on March 26 and runs for two weeks.
It serves to highlight the growing Australia-Laos trade relationship while offering members of the public the opportunity to experience a diverse range of world-class products from Australia.
Through this collaboration, Kokkok continues to reinforce its position as a leading retailer of imported products while showcasing Australia’s high-quality food, beverage, personal care, and household goods.
Under the theme “Premium Nature, Clean Living and Authentic Taste”, the opening was attended by the Australian Ambassador to Laos, Ms Megan Jones; the GCEO of Kokkok Mart, Mr Niwat Dawloy; and Deputy Director General of the Enterprise Registration Department, Mr Mone Phetphouthai.
Mr Niwat said “This Taste of Australia 2026 event is a continuation of the success of previous international product campaigns.”
“Lao consumers, especially families and the younger generation, are paying more attention to their health and wellbeing and are looking for high quality products.”
“Imported products from Australia, which is renowned for its cleanliness, safety, and international standards, meet market demand and help stimulate the retail economy,” he said.
Ambassador Jones praised the strong bilateral economic relationship, saying “Australia is very pleased to present our premium quality products to the Lao market through our partnership with Kokkok Mart.”
The event serves not only to promote Australian products but is also a cultural link, as well as strengthening business cooperation, providing opportunities for businesses to engage in trade and further deepening the economic relationship between Australia and Laos.
It also aligns with Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040, which aims to strengthen trade and investment links with Laos and the region as a whole, Ambassador Jones said.
Throughout the two-week event, customers can buy many special Australian products, such as Bickford’s beverages, Shapes crispy snacks, Australia’s Own organic almond milk, and Kuranda Wholefoods nutritious nut bars, along with special promotional discounts.
Everyone is invited to explore the exciting range of goods on offer and experience the premium taste of Australia by visiting the Kokkok Mega Mart in Phonsinuan village.
