Foreign minister welcomes Vietnamese delegation to Laos

A high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived in Vientiane on Tuesday to prepare for an official visit to Laos by Politburo member and Standing Member of Vietnam’s Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, Tran Cam Tu.
On the same day, Party Central Committee member and Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Nguyen Manh Cuong, and his delegation paid a courtesy visit to Lao Party Central Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Thongsavanh Phomvihane.
Mr Thongsavanh warmly welcomed the group and conveyed his sincere brotherly greetings to Vietnamese Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Le Hoai Trung.
He voiced his deep admiration for the significant achievements of the Vietnamese people under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam throughout four decades of transformation.
At the same time, he expressed his deep gratitude, on behalf of the Lao Party, State and people, for the invaluable and timely assistance provided by Vietnamese comrades and brothers to Laos over many decades.
The two sides expressed their satisfaction at continued strengthening of the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic partnership between Laos and Vietnam, especially in the fields of politics, defence and security, and economic affairs.
The two delegations agreed to work together to ensure that Mr Tran Cam Tu’s upcoming visit is a complete success, and to prepare for future reciprocal visits by high-ranking leaders of the two countries and events to mark the Laos-Vietnam Year of Friendship and Solidarity in 2027.
Mr Nguyen Manh Cuong thanked Mr Thongsavanh Phomvihane for his warm welcome and congratulated him on his approval by the National Assembly to serve as Laos’ Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
