Phu Bia Mining marks International Labour Day by spotlighting employees’ achievements

Phu Bia Mining has marked the 140th anniversary of the International Labour Day by recognising the contributions of its workforce and highlighting personal career journeys that reflect the company’s commitment to long-term employment and skill development in Laos.
In a statement issued to commemorate the occasion, the firm acknowledged the dedication and efforts of its 3,884 employees, whose work continues to support the company’s growth and operations nationwide.
Phu Bia Mining – part of PanAust, a wholly subsidiary of Guangdong Rising Holding Group (GDRH) – reaffirmed its focus on job security and workforce development as key pillars of its operations.
The company said it remains guided by GDRH’s “FAITH” principles – Focus, Actions, Innovation, Technology, and Human-oriented values – that underpin its approach to business and human resource management.
As part of the celebrations, two employees shared their professional experiences, offering insight into career progression and the workplace culture within the company.
The Administration Superintendent at the Phu Kham Mining Department, Mr Viengvisith Inthalangsy, described his journey since joining the company in 2016 as an Administration Officer. After eight years, he was promoted to a senior role, in line with the company’s localisation strategy.
He credited the company’s training programmes and professional development opportunities for strengthening his skills and confidence. Among his career highlights was a visit to GDRH’s headquarters in Guangzhou, China, where he was introduced to the “FAITH” corporate culture.
“At Phu Bia Mining, I have gained new knowledge and skills from participating in multiple in-house training programmes, which helped my career progression and enabled my confidence in mining administrative supervision. The opportunity also afforded me a visit to GDRH’s Guangzhou Headquarters in Guangdong province in the People’s Republic of China, where I was immersed in the new culture of FAITH and have since applied the learnings to my routine tasks,” he said.
“As we celebrate International Labour Day, I am proud and pleased to share that Phu Bia Mining’s employees, especially Lao nationals, are a great workforce. In my role, I see how everyone contributes to the growth of the business and our host communities.”
Also sharing her experiences was a Senior Housekeeping Supervisor and Trainer, Ms Keanchanh Chanthapuvong, who joined the company in 2011. She emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards of hygiene and comfort in camp facilities to ensure the well-being of employees, contractors and visitors.
“Personally, maintaining and uplifting hygiene in the camp facilities is a priority for me to make sure that every area stays clean. Daily, when all camp rooms are well equipped and managed, our employees can rest and sleep well,” she said.
“As we are a large family, I continue to nurture the core value of GDRH’s Human-oriented approach, where we care and look after each other as family members. I am proud of what I do, and I use my housekeeping skills to care for all employees, contractors and visitors while they are on site.”
