Phu Bia Mining retains Chevron’s ‘Best in Class’ lubrication standards for fifth consecutive year
Phu Bia Mining (PBM) has retained Chevron’s prestigious “Best in Class Five-Star Rating” for Reliability-Focused Lubrication (RFL) practices for the fifth consecutive year at both its Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver operations.
The achievement follows an audit conducted in April 2026 by a Chevron assessment team from Thailand, which evaluated the Fixed Plant Maintenance (FPM) workshops and lubrication facilities at both sites against international lubrication and maintenance standards.
In a major milestone for the company, the FPM lubrication teams at Phu Kham and Ban Houayxai achieved perfect scores of 100 percent for the first time since the assessments began.
PBM has participated in Chevron’s lubrication assessment programme since 2015 as part of Chevron’s Customer Value Guarantee commitment. In 2019, the company’s Phu Kham and Ban Houayxai operations received their first five-star ratings, scoring 95 percent and 97.6 percent respectively. Since then, PBM has continued to improve its standards each year, excluding the Covid-19 pandemic period.
The annual assessments are designed to ensure that world-class lubrication practices are maintained across operations, while also identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Excellent lubrication and contamination control practices are among the key maintenance principles underpinning the exceptional plant availability achieved by PBM at both operation sites.
These outstanding results mark another important milestone for the company, reflecting its continued commitment to extending equipment life, lowering operating costs, and ultimately reducing the environmental impact of its operations on surrounding communities.
