Land disputes in Xaythany district of Vientiane resolved, several cases underway  

Eleven out of a total of 18 complaints received from villagers have been resolved and seven of them were related to land disputes, according to a report by the People’s Council of Xaythany district in Vientiane.
The district authorities and the local  People’s Council held a meeting in Vientiane on May 10 to review the work done over the past year and to frame future plans. The meeting was informed that authorities received 18 complaints from local residents, and most of the cases related to land disputes.
During the same meeting, the People’s Council of the district said it had monitored the plans for the implementation of state investments and revenue collection in Vientiane.
There are a total of 47 projects worth more than 183 billion kip, and the debt repayment plans for 41 state investment projects are worth more than 172 billion kip. There are also a total of six continuing projects worth more than 10 billion kip.
The local authorities also monitored revenue collections during 2023 through the implementation of the plan, and this amounted to more than 63.88 billion kip, equivalent to 123.69 percent of the annual plan.
Earnings from taxes stood at 61.98 billion kip, or 122.25 percent of the annual plan, while earnings from state property were worth 1,906 billion kip, or 200.66 percent of the annual plan.
The meeting summarised the activities of the plans for 2023 and 2024 for the People’s Council of Xaythany Constituency. The head of the People’s Council of Xaythany Constituency, Mr Boualy Keomanivanh,  co-chaired the meeting with district authorities. 
The meeting heard a summary of the  activity reports for 2023 and the direction of the plan for 2024.
Over the past year, the members of the People’s Council of Xaythany district paid attention to each aspect of various activities, such as monitoring and solving problems in society regarding compensation for delays and various inadequacies, especially the impact of the implementation of state and private development projects in the area.
These projects included the construction of the 230 kilovolt electricity transmission line, the Vientiane Expressway No 1, and Phase 2 of the Laos-China Railway Project.
In addition, the meeting took up several other issues, such as a survey for a potassium project, the compensation for the impact of the Bouyoung golf course on 59 families,  five families seeking compensation for the damage of their cassava plantations at Chaleunxay village, a land dispute for the construction of various local community alleys, a land dispute in Hatkieng and Saphangmeuk villages, and the collection of information for the right to use state land.
