GSM launches Xanh SM Platform, distributes VinFast VF 3 and VF 5 in Laos

Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM), the operator of Xanh SM – the world’s first all-electric ride-hailing brand – on May 17 announced the launch of the Xanh SM Platform in Laos.
At the same time, GSM also announced the official distribution of two electric vehicle models, VinFast VF 3 and VF 5, in the Lao market via this newly launched platform.

Laos is the second international market where GSM has established a full-scale presence with both its electric ride-hailing services and vehicle distribution model, following Vietnam.
This is a significant milestone in the company’s “Go Green Global” strategy, reaffirming its pioneering efforts to export sustainable transportation models “Made in Vietnam” to the region.

After more than a year of operations across four provinces and cities – Vientiane, Vangvieng, Savannakhet, and Champassak – Xanh SM has received positive responses from the Lao people, initially affirming the effectiveness and compatibility of its model in this market.
To date, millions of customers in Laos have travelled more than 8 million kilometres using Xanh SM electric vehicles, helping to reduce environmental emissions – equivalent to the amount of CO₂ absorbed by over 70,000 trees in a year.
Based on this foundation, the Xanh SM Platform was introduced as an open technology solution that enables individual owners of VinFast VF 5 vehicles to become service partners, independently generate sustainable income, and contribute to shaping a greener transportation future and a cleaner living environment in Laos.

According to the current revenue-sharing policy, driver-partners participating in the Xanh SM Platform can receive up to 87 percent of revenue – the highest rate in the Lao market.
Additionally, partners can access a large customer base from the Xanh SM ecosystem and benefit from professional training programmes aligned with international green transport service standards.

As part of the launch event, Xanh SM – the official exclusive distributor of VinFast in Laos – also announced the grand opening of its first showroom located on Kaysone Phomvihane Road in Phakao village, Xaythany district. Here, the VinFast VF 3 and VF 5 models were officially introduced and made available for purchase.

The VinFast VF 5 is a compact urban SUV with a flexible design, spacious interior, and optimised performance for ride-hailing and transport services.
The listed price in Laos is US$20,690 (VAT included). Customers placing deposits between now and May 31, 2025, will receive a direct discount of US$450, reducing the purchase price to US$20,240.
In addition, they will enjoy a 50 percent discount on EV charging costs for two years, until June 30, 2027. The total incentive package is valued at approximately US$1,000, bringing the effective ownership cost down to around US$19,240.
The VinFast VF 3 is a four-seater electric mini car with a compact and agile design, ideal for daily personal mobility, especially for young drivers or first-time car owners. The listed price is US$12,390 (VAT included).
Customers placing deposits by May 31, 2025, will receive a US$250 direct discount, reducing the purchase price to US$12,140, along with 50 percent off charging costs for two years.
The total incentive is valued at approximately US$500, reducing the effective cost of ownership to around US$11,890.
At the launch event, customers had the opportunity to experience both vehicle models firsthand, take test drives with support from professional consultants, and learn more about the Xanh SM Platform and its electric mobility business model.
Mr Nguyen Van Thanh, Global CEO of GSM, said: “The launch of the Xanh SM Platform in Laos is not merely an expansion into a new market, but a strategic step to export a comprehensive and sustainable development model – one that integrates technology, environmental responsibility, and economic opportunity into a single platform. We believe that Vietnam is not only capable of producing green vehicles but also of leading the global transition in how people move. Xanh SM is a testament to that vision.”
The rollout of the Xanh SM Platform in Laos further solidifies the presence of a Vietnamese brand on the global green mobility map and reaffirms the company’s long-term commitment to supporting the Lao people in building a modern, eco-friendly, and sustainable transportation infrastructure.
