Private investor moves to build a premium Private Reception Centre at Wattay International Airport

SKSUAAI Wellness Co., Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Civil Aviation authorising the company to conduct a preliminary feasibility study (Pre F/S) on the investment and development of a private reception centre at Wattay International Airport.
The agreement was signed by the Director General of the Department of Civil Aviation, Mr Viengxay Singkham, and the President of SKSUAAI Wellness Co., Ltd., Mrs Kingdao Sihapanya, on Tuesday at the Department of Civil Aviation at the airport in Vientiane.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, witnessed by SUAAI Vice President Mr Kang Dong Myung, departmental representatives, and invited guests.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President of SKSUAAI Wellness Co., Ltd., Mrs Kingdao Sihapanya, said the project complies with the government’s policy to encourage private sector participation and investment in infrastructure and services.
“The main purpose of the signing of this MOU is to conduct a preliminary feasibility study regarding the establishment of a special private reception centre at Wattay International Airport, with the goal of upgrading investment in the development of a premium hospitality centre, tourist reception services, and passenger services, to ensure they are modern, high quality, and up to international standards,” she said.
Mrs Kingdao said the proposed development aligns with the 10th Five-Year National Socio-Economic Development Plan for 2026-2030 and the resolutions of the Party’s 12th National Congress, particularly efforts to build an independent and self-reliant economy while raising hospitality and passenger services to international standards.
Highlighting the cross-cultural synergy of the partnership, SUAAI Vice Chairman Mr Kang Dong Myung expressed deep appreciation for the collaboration, drawing a meaningful parallel between Korea and Laos’ shared Buddhist heritage.
“In Korea, whenever something meaningful or fortunate happens, people often say, ‘It was achieved through the virtue and blessings of Buddha,’” Mr Kang shared during his commemorative address.
“Discovering the beautiful country of Laos and meeting trustworthy partners here has been a valuable blessing. We believe that receiving blessings is important, but sharing them and giving them back is equally important. We sincerely hope this project grows in a direction that contributes to the development of Laos and benefits its people, creating lasting value rather than just serving as a business venture.”
“This project will help transform the service landscape within the airport by introducing modernity and international-level service standards. It will ensure that tourists and other passengers passing through Wattay International Airport receive excellent comfort and a first-class impression, thereby truly elevating Wattay International Airport to become a fully world-class gateway,” Mrs Kingdao said.
She expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the Department of Civil Aviation for their close cooperation and support throughout the preparation process.
She also commended the leadership of the Department of Civil Aviation for prioritising the modernisation of services at Wattay International Airport and strengthening its role as an international gateway for Laos.
According to Mrs Kingdao, the signing of the MOU is an important first step towards the project’s implementation. She said SKSUAAI Wellness Co., Ltd. would dedicate its personnel, expertise, and financial resources to complete the preliminary feasibility study on schedule and to a high standard.
“We strongly expect that this project will play a significant role in boosting the aviation and tourism sectors,” she said.
“By providing excellent and modern services, it will help attract more tourists and investors to the Lao PDR, directly contributing to the country’s independent and self-reliant economic development.”
The company pledged to work closely with all relevant parties to ensure the proposed premium lounge delivers benefits to the government, investors, and airport users.
The project is expected to improve passenger comfort and enhance the quality of aviation-related services at Wattay International Airport as Laos continues to expand and modernise its transport infrastructure.
