Global Mercedes-Benz caravan comes to southern Laos to celebrate 140 years of innovation
VIENTIANE — Characterising a unique intersection of legendary automotive history and timeless cultural heritage, the world-renowned Mercedes-Benz caravan has officially arrived in the Lao PDR as part of its historic global tour, "140 Years, 140 Places".
The journey celebrates 140 years of pioneering innovation since the birth of the world's very first automobile in 1886. To mark this monumental milestone, Mercedes-Benz has organised an extraordinary global expedition spanning over 50,000 kilometres and crossing six continents.
Laos has been highly privileged to be selected as one of the key destinations along this historic route.

A Journey Through Southern Laos' Heritage
The caravan, featuring a fleet of flagship Mercedes-Benz S-Class luxury sedans, journeyed through the scenic landscape of southern Laos. The historic fleet visited prominent cultural and historical landmarks, including the culturally charming province of Savannakhet.
The province is home to the ancient Vat Phou Champasak temple complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site revered for its profound historical significance.
This historic journey not only pays tribute to the early pioneers of automotive technology but also serves as a high-profile platform to showcase the Lao PDR's rich cultural heritage and tourism potential to a global audience.
Destined for the Mercedes-Benz Museum
Upon the successful completion of this rigorous global expedition, the three flagship vehicles taking part in the journey will be permanently displayed at the prestigious Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany, preserving their journey through Laos as part of global automotive history.
