Commerce ministry confirms Easy Gold raises gold trading collateral

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce on Monday confirmed that Easy Gold Co., Ltd. (Easy Gold) had increased its gold collateral to 50 kilograms, worth over 150 billion kip, marking its third increase to support gold trading through the Easy Gold app.
The move is also part of the government’s efforts to promote the digital economy and expand the use of electronic trading platforms in the country’s gold market.
Under the latest arrangement, the company has placed an additional 50kg of gold, valued at over 150 billion kip, as collateral with the Lao Bullion Bank, marking a further expansion of its gold trading operations.
The ceremony was chaired by Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Mr Phoutthavanh Nanthavong, Director General of the Department of Domestic Trade, Mr Santisouk Phounsavath, and Chief Executive Officer of Easy Gold Co., Ltd., Mr Chanthavong Phamisith, while Honorary Advisor to Easy Gold Co., Ltd., Mr Somchith Inthamith, was also among the representatives from relevant organisations.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Phoutthavanh said online trading is expanding rapidly, enabling greater competitiveness, easier access for customers, and other conveniences.
Trading on electronic platforms offers greater convenience but also requires safeguards to protect customers. To this end, the government has recently introduced regulatory principles for electronic trading.
“The Ministry of Industry and Commerce is playing a crucial role in overseeing the implementation of the government’s various decrees, measures and regulations, especially those relating to trade via electronic platforms. Easy Gold also needs to ensure that it addresses any challenges and operates accordingly and correctly,” Mr Phoutthavanh said.
The ministry acknowledged Easy Gold’s intention to increase its gold collateral to 50 kilograms, worth over 150 billion kip, and approved the issuance of a certificate of collateral to assure customers’ confidence in gold trading through its app, he added.
In addition, Mr Chanthavong told the gathering that the latest increase reflected the company’s commitment to conducting its business with integrity and responsibility, while strengthening customer confidence and operating within the relevant regulatory framework.
He expressed his appreciation to government agencies, particularly the Department of Domestic Trade, for their guidance and support, as well as their efforts to promote private-sector participation in the country’s economic development.
“This trust will be another driving force for the company to continue developing its business and contribute to raising standards across Laos’ gold industry,” he said.
Also speaking at the ceremony, Director General of the Department of Domestic Trade, Mr Santisouk Phounsavath, said the ministry’s confirmation was intended to create confidence among customers regarding their gold savings through the Easy Gold app, which is governed by existing regulatory instruments.
“There are a lot of public concerns over gold savings via the Easy Gold app. This acknowledgement by the ministry surely confirms that people will be protected by the existing regulatory framework and benefit from returns on their savings in gold or money,” he said.
The latest increase follows Easy Gold’s previous collateral agreement with the Lao Development Bank (LDB).
The company initially placed 100 billion kip in collateral, followed by an additional 50 billion kip, bringing the total to 150 billion kip on October 13, 2025.
The company also plans to continue developing the Easy Gold app and introduce activities and educational content aimed at helping younger generations better understand personal finance, gold saving, financial planning and gold investment.
Beyond its business operations, Easy Gold said it considers financial education an important part of making knowledge about gold and personal finance more accessible to a wider audience.
