Australian Ambassador Megan Jones last week joins over 30 Lao-based alumni of the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) to discuss agricultural research priorities for Laos. The one-day event provided a unique platform for alumni to engage directly with key representatives from the Lao government. This year marks a major milestone as ACIAR celebrates 35 years of partnership with Laos. The partnership has grown significantly, especially following the establishment of the Lao National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI) in 1999. ACIAR has supported more than 150 research projects, with an investment of over AUD150 million, and has strengthened local research capacity through fellowships and training programmes. --Photo Australia in Laos |
