Officials from the Lao-Korean Rural Development and Training Centre (LKRDTC) on Friday join farmers from the provinces of Borikhamxay, Xieng Khuang and Vientiane for a group photo at the close of a training course on fish farming, as part of the rural development project in northern and central Laos. Deputy Head of the LKRDTC, Mr Sisaketh Khanthalath, congratulated participants on completing the course and encouraged them to use what they had learnt to earn more money for their families. He stressed the importance of increased agricultural production to reduce imports and produce more goods for export. The course took place from February 9-14 with funding support from the Government of the Republic of Korea through KOICA. Participants shared in hands-on exercises relating to the farming of koi, tilapia, catfish, and silver barb. They also learned about the integration of Korea’s Saemaul Undong principles with Laos’ Three Builds devolution directive, as well as the formation of farming groups and cooperatives.
