Director General of KOTRA Vientiane, Mr Kim Pilseong handovers premium natural children’s toothpaste to the Pediatrician Director of Children’s Hospital, Dr Sommanikhone Phangmanixay.

Korean company collaborates with Laos Children’s Hospital to improve children’s oral hygiene

Lao children’s oral hygiene will be improved through the use of premium natural children’s toothpaste and free oral check-ups for children, under a collaboration between the Korean company Medif Co., Ltd. and the Children’s Hospital in Laos.
Medif Co., Ltd. handed over the premium natural children’s toothpaste to the Children’s Hospital on May 23, organised by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) in Vientiane.

Kids participate the activities and win the prize

Through KOTRA’s global ESG+ programme, this ceremony is the second ESG+ programme to be held in Laos this year.
On this occasion, Medif Co.,Ltd. presented premium natural children’s toothpaste worth US$ 24,654 to the Children’s Hospital.
The toothpaste was handed over by the Director General of KOTRA Vientiane, Mr Kim Pilseong, as the representative of Medif Co., Ltd., and received by the Pediatrician Director at the Children’s Hospital, Dr Sommanikhone Phangmanixay.
The event was also attended by medical staff and other officials from the two sides.
The toothpaste will be distributed to children after they have free oral check-ups organised by the Children’s Hospital, to mark International Children’s Day.
Medif Co., Ltd.’s toothpaste is expected to contribute to self-care in oral hygiene among children in Laos. The Children’s Hospital will support free oral examinations until the end of July 2023, and premium natural toothpaste will be distributed free of charge until supplies are depleted.
Medif Co., Ltd. participated in the “Daegu K-Product Access Programme 2022” which was organised by KOTRA Vientiane last year.
The year-long programme conducted market research in Laos and arranged meetings with various potential partners. This programme contributed to the Lao community by promoting premium natural toothpaste made in Korea.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Sommanikhone thanked Medif Co., Ltd. and KOTRA Vientiane for supporting the toothpaste, which is immensely beneficial to children’s health.
On International Children’s Day, the Children’s Hospital has planned activities to help children develop healthy dental hygiene practices.
“The objective of the activity was to reduce children’s aversion to teeth brushing and to educate them on the importance of oral health. We have organised free dental and oral health check-up activities to teach brushing and hand out toothpaste for children by supporting Medif Co., Ltd.,” she said.
“After the children received the Korean toothpaste, they were very happy and made their parents happy because they enjoy brushing their teeth. They also said that the toothpaste is very high quality with beautiful packaging and has a nice smell. I hope we will cooperate on more great activities in the future,” she added.
Mr Kim Pilseong said “A Korean toothpaste manufacturing company looking to expand their market in Laos has partnered with the Children’s Hospital to create positive synergies in the area of health and hygiene. And the Korea Week Festival held at the Vientiane Center on May 26-27, hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Laos, proved the high interest in natural children’s toothpaste made in Korea.”
“KOTRA’s global ESG+ programme is ideal for Laos since it allows Korean private companies to expand their social responsibility in Laos while also increasing their relationship with the public sector. We will continue to broaden the partnership spectrum between our two nations,” he said.
