The Russian Film Festival “Amur Autumn” opens last Friday at the Russian Embassy to Laos, supported by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Vientiane and attended by the Ambassador of Russia to Laos, Vladimir Kalinin, Laos’ Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, General Chansamone Chanyalath, and other high-ranking officials. Humanitarian ties between Russia and Laos are developing dynamically. Starting last year, the Russian language has been added to the secondary school curriculum and well-known Russian groups are now bringing their work to the attention of the Lao public. The Russian Film Festival is organised by Sergey Novozhilov, an Honoured Artist of Russia, a member of the Film Academy “Nika”, and a well-known director and TV presenter.

Members of Saravan province’s Red Cross association on Friday hand over 5,532 filter waters to representatives of 56 villages in Ta-oy district for distribution to 5,532 families, with assistance from the Vietnamese Red Cross.     --Photo Pasaxon
