Head of the Laos-Korea Rural Development Training Centre,Dr Vongsavanh Vongkesone presents certificates to participants in a training course for weavers from the provinces of Xieng Khuang, Borikhamxay and Vientiane. Held at the Laos-Korea Rural Development Training Centre from October 13-18, the course aimed to empower weavers through education in trademark design and marketing strategies. Supported by the Korean Institute for Development Strategy (KDS) and KOICA, the programme sought to improve the quality of traditional Lao women’s skirts and fabrics made by weavers, ensuring sustainable livelihoods amidst competition from machine-made products. This effort underscores the importance of preserving cultural heritage while fostering economic resilience. |
