Lao and Chinese officials discuss cooperation in medical and health management talent training.

Health sector upgrade skill in  Chongqing medical and pharmaceutical college

The Lao health sector will build the skills of its staff through the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government Mayor’s scholarship for foreign students under the “Silk Road Project”: Lao International Management Talent Training Course on Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine.
The opening ceremony of the scholarship was held at Chongqing medical and pharmaceutical college recently, attended by the Head of Office of Laos’ Ministry of Health, Dr Chanthanom Manithip; Second-level Inspector of the Municipal Health Commission of China, Mei Zhengcheng; President of Chongqing medical and pharmaceutical college, Liu Yongsheng; Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Municipal Health Commission, Yang Bin; and other officials from the two sides.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Chanthanom said “Through this scholarship, Laos can learn from Chongqing in the fields of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine management, poisoning prevention and cancer treatment, enhance understanding and build consensus, and deepen cooperation between our two regions in the field of health. Practical cooperation lays a solid foundation.”
Mei Zhengcheng said that under the 2023 Chongqing Municipal People’s Government Mayor’s Scholarship Silk Road Project for Foreign Students, the Lao International Management Talent Training Course on Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine aims to cultivate high-level management talents in the field of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine who can ‘learn both Chinese and Western medicine’ and understand management.

“By building a communication platform, we can jointly explore effective ways for Laos and Chongqing to learn from each other in the field of health and enhance the health and well-being of our citizens,” he added.
Before the opening ceremony, the two sides attended the “Chongqing-Laos Medical and Health Management Talent Cultivation Exchange Symposium” and had in-depth discussions on fostering exchanges and cooperation between Laos and Chongqing in the fields of medical and health management talent training.
The Laos International Management Talent Training Course on Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, by cultivating high-level management talents in the field of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, builds a communication platform to enable the joint exploration of effective paths for Laos and Chongqing to learn from each other in the field of health, improves the health and well-being of the people of the two regions, and contributes to the continuous deepening of the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Laos.
Principal of the B-you Education Centre, Mr Thangsoupha Laothang told the Vientiane Times, “It is our pleasure as a part of the link between the health sectors of Laos and Chongqing that both sides plan to extend cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding by the end of this year. This joining of hands is an important step for further cooperation in order to upgrade skills and exchange ideas on health in Laos with the Chinese health sector.”
“The international management talent training course will benefit Lao people working in the health sector and also strengthen cooperation between Laos and China,” he added.
“The B-you Education Centre will continue to support links between the two countries for the benefit of technical staff and education development in the long term.”
