Souphattra Convention Centre opens in Luang Prabang

The Souphattra Hotel opened the Souphattra Convention Centre (SCC) in Luang Prabang city on November 25 to offer exciting new event spaces in the UNESCO World Heritage City.
With its design inspired by Lao and French colonial architecture, SCC is located next to award-winning Souphattra Hotel in the heart of the city, and is the landmark venue for executive board retreats, corporate meetings and traditional ceremonies such as Baci blessings and weddings.
Three separate conference, seminar and banquet rooms offer 780 sq m of indoor space and accommodate 25-250 guests. Spacious verandahs and gardens offer another 350 sq m. A dedicated event manager helps with pre-event and event logistics. 

At the opening ceremony, the General Manager of Souphattra Hotel and SCC, Mr Douangchanh Chanhma, welcomed 200 government officials, dignitaries, travel professionals and community members.
He said SCC is the latest project of Lao Derm, a Lao-owned hospitality and lifestyle brand headquartered in Vientiane that operates a luxury hotel and serviced apartments in Luang Prabang and Vientiane, and wishes to develop comprehensive business and hospitality services.
“Our mission is to elevate Luang Prabang’s position as a leisure and business destination. Throughout the planning and construction of the convention centre, we paid attention to details to support our goals. The exterior and interior design celebrate Luang Prabang’s royal and French colonial heritage. Our facilities are technologically savvy,” Mr Douangchanh said.

“Our banquet and catering offers fantastic Lao and international menus. Our events manager will assist guests through all aspects of planning and execution.” This is the first convention and celebration venue in the town centre, and enjoys easy access to Luang Prabang’s core historic zone, temple-lined avenues and French colonial café culture.
SCC is the latest addition to Lao Derm’s outstanding hotel and restaurant portfolio in Luang Prabang, which includes Souphattra Hotel, T56 Café and Bar, BBQ by Lao Derm, and Balance Beer and Artisan Bar.

High ceilings, elegant chandeliers, tranquil water features and colonial-era white wooden shutters endow the space with calm, focus and sophistication. It has three meeting and banquet rooms named after local flowers. Dok Champa Ballroom accommodates 150-250 guests and is the ideal venue for weddings, ceremonies and corporate events. With a capacity of 25-30 people, Dok Hak Room is a luxuriously appointed boardroom with  a conference table, executive leather chairs, 75-inch flat screen TV and projection screen. Dok Phout Room accommodates small to medium corporate seminars, meetings and events with 80-100 guests.
Additional spaces such as gardens and verandahs are available for breakout sessions and informal networking. All rooms feature high-speed internet and  international conferencing capabilities.
SCC stands adjacent to Souphattra Hotel, a boutique 37-room hotel with luxury king and twin bed accommodation, restaurant, pool bar, 25-metre pool and spa. In November 2022, Souphattra Hotel was named “Country Winner” in the Best Luxury Hotel category by World Luxury Awards 2022. It was the only hotel in Laos to receive this honour.
