Health Minister, deputy ministers and other invited guests jointly cut ribbons to officially open Luckxay Hospital on Wednesday.

New private hospital to provide high-quality healthcare services to meet increasing needs of people

Luckxay, a new private hospital in Laos, officially opened on Wednesday in response to the rising public demand for high-quality healthcare services.
The grand opening ceremony of Luckxay Hospital was attended by the Health Minister, Dr Bounfeng Phoummalaysith, Deputy Ministers, and other guests.
The Vice President and Director of Luckxay Hospital, Dr Bounmy Somsamouth, delivered his speech at the opening ceremony of the hospital, highlighting the goals and visions of the hospital to serve as an alternative provider of healthcare services for the people in Laos.

He said more and more Lao people and expatriates are exercising to improve their health and pursuing health checks, sparking a rising demand for health services.
He observed that a large number of Lao people cross the borders to neighbouring countries to seek medical treatment and healthcare. This could mean that health service facilities have yet to respond to the needs of people in Laos.
The construction of Luckxay Hospital began in mid-2019 and it officially opened for health services in September 2020 in the form of a clinic known as Luckxay Clinic.
“Due to the rising response from the general public to the medical services provided by Luckxay clinic, we have decided to upgrade it into full-service healthcare services in the form of a hospital, which was authorised by the Ministry of Health,” Dr Bounmy said.
The Health Minister, Dr Bounfeng, said the investment in private hospitals is in line with the government’s policy to provide high-quality and adequate healthcare services for the people of Laos.
“The Ministry of Health promotes investments by the private sector to ensure all Lao people can access high-quality and fairly priced healthcare services,” he said.
Those who hold shares in Luckxay Hospital are Mr Khamxay Bounmysidavong, Dr Bounmy Somsamouth, Dr Thatsaphone Keophanthouvong, Mr Vicksamphanh Chanthavong, and Ms Noknoy Chanmavong. Mr Khamxay, who is also the President of Luckxay Hospital, outlined the main reasons for investing in this hospital and said that healthcare services and treatment are part of human needs, and a greater number of Lao people are spending more on improving their health.
He observed that healthcare facilities in Laos have yet to respond to the increasing needs of the people of Laos.
Luckxay Hospital is designed to meet the needs of those who currently cross the border to seek healthcare services in neighbouring countries, helping to reduce their expenses and other risks that could occur during their travel for treatment in other countries. The move should contribute to reducing the outflow of foreign currencies from the country.
Mr Khamxay pledged to enhance the professionalism of doctors to a level accepted by society, to invest more in modern medical equipment, and to make the facility a public hospital.
Luckxay Hospital intends to gather specialist doctors in different fields to provide a full range of professional healthcare services and quality treatment to the people.
The hospital will place great emphasis on the development of a diagnostic facility to properly diagnose diseases for treatment.
Doctors, nurses, and ambulances will be ready to provide medical services for people at home.
The hospital will modernise its communications system to enable doctors and patients to communicate during the treatment process.
The hospital will establish special units to cure diseases that affect many Lao people, including diabetes and heart-related illnesses.
The hospital plans to enlarge from 30 beds to 70 beds and 100 beds in the near future, and enhance itself with modern apparatus and professional doctors to provide healthcare services for the people of Laos.

Senior government officials and other invited guests gather for a group photo during the opening ceremony of Luckxay Hospital on Wednesday.
