Lao college teachers, students learn about Chinese metallurgical creations

Close to 100 members of the Engineering College at the National University of Laos last week attended an online workshop to learn about the beauty of Chinese metallurgy.
The workshop, as part of a project titled “Stepping on the ‘Chinese Bridge’ and Experiencing the Beauty of China’s Metallurgical Creation” was delivered on May 8 at the Artificial Intelligence Collaborative Innovation Centre of the Laiwu Vocational and Technical College in China.
The session was hosted by the Sino-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Centre of the Ministry of Education and undertaken by Laiwu Vocational and Technical College.
Mr Wei Guangfeng, Director of the College’s Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, and Mr Khampheuy Bounvilay, Deputy Dean of the Engineering College, National University of Laos, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Lecturers from the Department of Metallurgy and Architectural Engineering and the Department of Basic Teaching, as well as 98 teachers and students from the National University of Laos attended the opening ceremony.
Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, Mr Wei Guangfeng, introduced the school’s foreign exchanges and cooperation and project implementation, and encouraged students to study hard, learn about the development of China’s metallurgical technology, and develop a feel for the beauty of China’s metallurgical creativity.
He hoped that the workshop would provide a link for further exchanges between the two schools, so as to increase reciprocal visits, academic seminars, and people-to-people exchanges between the two parties.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Dean of the Engineering College, National University of Laos, Mr Khampheuy Bounvilay, observed that China and Laos share an unbreakable community of common destiny, reflected in the online training session about iron and steel metallurgy technology.
The rich course content has been acknowledged by teachers and students at the National University of Laos, he said. He hoped that cooperation between the University and Laiwu Vocational and Technical College would strengthen, so that students could be imbued with more technical talents and other skills to spur Laos’ economic development and deepen the friendship between Laos and China.
The 10-day project takes the theme “Chinese metallurgical creation” through “Chinese + Vocational Skills” training. It continues the design concept of the two-way improvement of Chinese language and vocational skills, improves the course content of Chinese language learning, iron and steel metallurgy technology, nonferrous metallurgy technology, etc., and adds new courses such as green metallurgy development, tin carving appreciation and gold processing.
The content is richer and the form is livelier. Through theme lectures, skill drills, live broadcasts and other channels, it will demonstrate the beauty of China’s metallurgical creativity, fully demonstrate the latest achievements of China’s industry-education integration, school-enterprise cooperation, and vocational education.
Participants at the opening ceremony included Mr Wei Guangfeng, Mr Khampheuy Bounvilay, lecturers from the Department of Metallurgy and Architectural Engineering and the Department of Basic Teaching, as well as 98 teachers and students from the National University of Laos.
