University job fair gives students a boost up the employment ladder

Companies seeking new employees are partnering with the National University of Laos (NUOL) in Vientiane to provide job opportunities for new graduates.
The university is currently holding its 11th annual job fair to link new graduates with potential employers in both the government and private sectors.
The opening event on Wednesday was attended by NUOL Vice President, Associate Prof. Dr Somchanh Bounphanmy, officials from 13 faculties, and students.

Students get information about vacancies at the job fair at the National University of Laos on Wednesday.

The annual job fair is an opportunity for students to consider the career pathways open to them when they graduate.
At the same time, the event is a chance for private businesses and government institutions to recruit the most promising and talented young graduates.
This year 15 companies are participating in the job fair, which is taking place from May 23-25, from 8am-4pm.
Speaking at the event, Dr Somchanh said the job fair allows students to learn about the requirements of potential employers and the kind of skills they need, giving them a chance to mould themselves to their requirements.
NUOL administrators want to ensure that students who graduate this year are able to find stable employment. The fair allows students to register their interest and apply for jobs with the companies of their choice, Dr Somchanh said.
Meanwhile, the university is working to improve the standard of its graduates, who will fuel economic growth in the years ahead and drive the country’s future development.
