Interior Ministry cracks down on illegal migrants in bid to curb Covid-19

BANGKOK (The Nation) -- The Interior Ministry of Thailand has ordered all provincial governors to track down migrant workers who have sneaked into Thailand illegally as part of three new measures launched to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Under the first measure, all provinces and related agencies will have to hunt down illegal migrants and take health precautions as per guidelines set by the Public Health Ministry.
Provincial authorities will also ask all communities to check if there are any illegal migrants among them and inform officials if any are found. The second measure is to ensure that provinces sharing borders with Myanmar step up their security to prevent the entry of illegal migrants.
The third measure is that provinces sharing borders with other neighbouring countries set up checkpoints to prevent the illegal entry of migrants.
