Another four virus patients discharged from hospital 

Four more COVID-19 patients (the third, sixth, ninth and 19th cases) who tested negative for a second time were discharged from hospital on Saturday to continue their recovery at home.
The four people will still have to self-isolate at home for another 14 days while six coronavirus patients continue to be treated at Mittaphab Hospital in Vientiane. As of May 9, there had been no new infections in Laos for 27 days. 

The news was revealed by Deputy Minister of Health, Dr Phouthone Muongpak at the daily press conference held by the National Taskforce Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.
Dr Phouthone said authorities would continue to implement strict measures to prevent and control COVID-19.
On May 8, 1,884 people entered the country including 1,112 via Laos-Thailand border checkpoints. Five truck drivers entered from China as well as 767 from Vietnam. No entries to Laos came via Wattay International Airport. 
On May 8, health authorities tested 175 samples, including 14 suspected cases (six people from Savannakhet, four from Khammuan, two from Oudomxay, and one each from Borikhamxay and Huaphan provinces). 
Three infected cases (the first, 11th and 15th cases) already discharged from hospital returned to be tested again. Some 152 Lao workers returning from Thailand were also tested, but there were no infections recorded. 
According to the Ministry of Health as of May 9, COVID-19 had spread to 212 countries and territories with 3,939,119 confirmed cases globally (92,072 new infections). The virus has claimed 274,917 lives while figures also show that 1,322,289 people have recovered.
Asean member countries recorded 768 new infections and 24 deaths on May 8, according to Lao authorities.
