FM expresses condolences over floods in Indonesia
Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith on January 7 sent a message of sympathy and condolence to his Indonesian counterpart Mrs Retno LP Marsudi, whose country is suffering from devastating flooding.
The unofficial translation of the message read: “Excellency, I am deeply saddened to learn about the devastation and loss of life caused by the recent flooding and landslides triggered by heavy rain in Jakarta, Indonesia, on December 31, 2019.”
“On behalf of the government and people of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, I would like to express my deepest sympathy and condolences to the government and people of the Republic of Indonesia, particularly the bereaved families of the deceased victims as well as to everyone else affected by this calamity.”
“I am confident that under the leadership of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in responding to this disaster, the country will overcome the difficulties and soon restore the living conditions of those affected to normal. Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.”
