Lao National Radio studio upgrade on-air shortly

Lao National Radio expects to complete the upgrade of its online studios for sound recording and boosting interactive content in the first half of this year.
The information was detailed during a Lao National Radio meeting on Thursday chaired by Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr

Savankhone Razmountry, and Director General of Lao National Radio, Mr Phosy Keomanyvong.
Mr Phosy said the objective of the meeting was to review achievements over the past year and to discuss plans for 2020.
The upgrade of 11 online studios and associated digital equipment is expected to be completed in the next few months with support coming from neighbouring national broadcaster Voice of Vietnam, according to Lao National Radio’s plan for 2020.
Other highlights for the broadcaster this year include reporting important events such as President Kaysone Phomvihane’s 100th birthday celebrations, the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Lao media, and the 60th anniversary of Lao National Radio.
The station also plans to continue holding training courses to boost skills development in news writing, news reading, English language, detecting fake news and other areas this year, as well as increase digital news and video production to upload through the Lao National Radio website.
Some 38 officials from Lao National Radio completed training courses in Laos last year, along with another 16 who took courses in other countries.
The national broadcaster set a revenue collection target for 2019 of 3.7 billion kip, but fell short of the target and earned 3.2 billion kip.
